First Communion Workshop

Sunday, March 15th  |  9am - 4:30pm

We experience the story of Jesus in many ways, but especially when we gather to share a meal. One of the most meaningful ways we celebrate is through the sacrament of Holy Communion at the Lord's table. We invite all youth to join us for a day at Green Lake Bible Camp as we explore the meaning of Communion. Local pastors passionate about guiding youth will lead workshops on the who, what, and how of this important sacrament. Activities include practicing Communion with Oreos, making your own Communion bread and chalice, playing games, and participating in the vibrant camp worship your campers know and love! Emily, Pastor Alex, and Pastor Todd will all be in attendance. This workshop is a great way to prepare for your first Communion, or for those already communing who want to learn more or refresh their understanding.

At St. John's, children are welcome to begin communing whenever their parents feel they are ready to participate.

If a child has not yet begun communing, we strongly encourage that they start by second or third grade.

Registration Details

  • The total cost of the workshop is $85 per child. We are asking parents to pay $40, with St. John's covering the remaining amount. When you register, you’ll have the option to select "Pay Later," as the church is providing a scholarship. This allows you to pay the remaining balance once St. John's submits our portion.
  • Full scholarships are available for those who need them. Please email Emily or Aleah if you would like to request a full scholarship.
  • Parents are welcome but not required to attend. If you plan to join, please register as an adult. Alternatively, we have volunteers available to transport youth to and from the event.
  • Once you’ve registered, please let Emily know!
